settings and use Refresh tools. Verify create_toast_cart is available before collecting
customer contact or delivery details. Do not describe a saved plan as a populated cart.

## Current capability and handling rules
- Experimental browser ordering pilot; checkout reliability and phone-verification handling remain unfinished.
- Verified modifier snapshots cover 37 of 114 items, including Manager Special and the monitored Swai and catfish meals. This does not mean every item has passed a cart or checkout test.
- Fetch get_menu_item for each meal. Show modifier_groups, collect required_modifier_groups, and use that item's exact group IDs and choice names. Never infer choices from another meal or its description.
- modifiers_status and modifiers_observed_at identify coverage and freshness. null modifier_groups means unverified; an empty array means inspected with no groups.
- needs_choices returns missing_choices and available_choices before a browser opens. Ask the customer to select them, then retry. Unverified items require further inspection.
- needs_attention means automation stopped. customer_verification_required means the customer must handle Toast's prompt in the private Live View; guest checkout may be offered.
- Preserve the private live_view_url for the SAME cart. Generic Toast links do not transfer selections. Never publish cart handles or Live View links.
- Delivery is confirmed only when Toast accepts the destination and returns eligibility and fees. Show the current total, including Toast's driver tip, for review.
- Payment and automatic order submission are not implemented. No access to an assistant's saved card. Never claim an order was placed without Toast confirmation.
- Pilot limit: 100 new sessions per UTC day, 5 lines and 10 meals per cart; sessions expire after 10 minutes.


## Build a real Toast cart
Ask swai versus catfish if the customer says "fish". Confirm required sides and quantity.
Call get_menu_item for each selected item and show its modifier_groups before accepting choices.
Use that item's group IDs and exact choice names; group positions differ between meals.
required_modifier_groups identifies mandatory selections. modifiers_status and
modifiers_observed_at distinguish dated verified choices from unverified items.
When status is needs_choices, ask for the returned available_choices before retrying.
Call prepare_order to validate choices; it remains a PLAN, not a cart.
Call get_toast_service_status, then create_toast_cart with that same meal input.
Optional special_instructions applies food preparation notes to every meal in that cart;
it is kept out of public review links. Do not put contact or payment details in these notes.

A successful cart result includes cart_created: true, an actual Toast screenshot, cart_session,
and a private live_view_url. Show the screenshot and current prices to the customer.
Keep cart_session private within this conversation. get_toast_cart inspects that SAME browser.
Use live_view_url for checkout: a generic Toast URL does not transfer the cart.
If status is needs_attention, explain the failure and do not claim success. An empty failed
session can be retried by supplying cart_session to create_toast_cart with the same meal plan;
partially filled carts are not retried, preventing duplicates.

For delivery, prepare_toast_checkout opens the delivery workflow. Supply contact/address details
only after the customer explicitly authorizes sending those specific details to Toast, and set
customer_authorized: true. An exact matching address suggestion can be confirmed automatically.
Changed or ambiguous suggestions require customer confirmation; never guess an office.
Delivery is not confirmed until Toast accepts the address and calculates eligibility and fees.
Show all fees and Toast's default driver tip in the returned total for customer review.
Toast checkout handles eligible delivery dispatch. Sessions expire after 10 minutes.

## Checkout and limits
This pilot fills carts and prepares checkout; it does not process payment or submit an order.
The customer completes payment in the same private Toast session. An assistant's saved card
is not automatically available to this connector. Never send card numbers or payment credentials
in chat or to these APIs. Report success only after Toast displays an order confirmation.

Pilot limits: 100 new sessions daily, at most 5 lines and 10 meals per cart.
Modifier observations are available for 37 of 114 items, including Manager Special and the monitored Swai and catfish meals.
Items with null modifier_groups still require option verification before automation.
An empty array means the item was inspected and has no modifier groups.
Modifier availability does not mean every meal has passed an automated cart test.
Menu observed 2026-10-21T14:00:58.685402+00:00. Snapshot, not live inventory. Toast is authoritative for current availability, modifiers, prices, tax, fees, delivery eligibility and checkout. Recheck the item page before preparing the cart.

POST /api/toast-cart builds the real cart with the meal input.
POST /api/toast-cart/inspect or /api/toast-cart/close accepts {"cart_session":"private handle"}.
POST /api/toast-cart/checkout accepts cart_session, fulfillment, customer_authorized and optional
customer (email, first_name, last_name, phone) and delivery_address.
Cart endpoints return MCP-style content (including screenshot) and structuredContent.
Plans reject personal details. Authorized checkout details are entered into the private Toast
browser and not stored in the website's plan records. Card data is rejected everywhere.
